The shooting incident by the police has been declared as 'terrorism', while the situation in the West Bank of Palestine has also been feared to become more tense.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but Hazem Qasim, the spokesman of the Islamic movement Hamas, said that an "operation has been carried out" in response to the attack on the Jenin camp.
According to Israeli media, the gunman was a Palestinian resident of East Jerusalem, but this has not been officially confirmed.
Israel's Foreign Office put the death toll at 7, while the ambulance service said 5 people died.
On the other hand, as soon as the news of the shooting at the Jewish place of worship in Gaza was received, rallies were taken out and aerial firing was fired in joy.
