Pakistan's National Commission for Human Rights has expressed deep concern over allegations that a woman officer was not appointed DG Hajj 'on the basis of gender'.

Grade Base Officer Saima Saba has approached the court on this issue. Her lawyer claims that Saima Saba topped the examination for the post but was rejected in the interview as she did not meet the merit.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Mufti Abdul Shakoor has denied allegations of gender discrimination.

He has said that the media created a sensation by using the woman card. Before the allegations, the woman also tried to exert political influence for the appointment.

On the other hand, an alleged audio of Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Mufti Abdul Shakoor is also circulating on social media, in which he can be heard saying that a woman who does not wear a dupatta on her head can represent Pakistan by becoming DG Hajj. How can What will be the image of Pakistan to the world?

However, Mufti Abdul Shakoor has said that in the alleged audio, "the informal conversation after the interview has been cut and presented".

In this context, the question has been raised on Pakistan's social media for several days that, however, why can't DG Hajj be a female officer?

Is this a matter related to DG Hajj?

The Department of Religious Affairs in the country has a special Directorate of Hajj headed by DG Hajj. The Federal Minister for Religious Affairs is accused of not appointing a woman to the post on the basis of her gender.

The woman officer's lawyer, Raja Saif, while talking to the BBC, alleged that "the first time when an examination was conducted for a post, a woman officer had the highest marks in the list."

"When the minister of mental affairs saw that a woman had topped, the test of this competition was conducted once again, but the same woman topped the second time as well."

He said that the minister had to give an interview. When he did not see any way, he said that the lady officer has failed in the interview.

While talking further, he claimed that 'According to our information, all the people present in the interview panel have put the numbers of the female officer, while Mufti Abdul Shakoor Sahib has put her zero marks.'

While sharing the results of the exams, he said that the female officer had managed to score 71/100 which was higher than all the candidates.

When contacted by the BBC, the female officer said, "I cannot comment on it now," but "I will only say that the examination for this post was conducted twice and both times the examination was conducted by the IBA." which is a standardized institution.

The National Commission for Human Rights has said that a woman has been appointed to the position of DG Hajj in Saudi Arabia, so why is Saima Saba, the best candidate in Pakistan, banned because she is a woman?

On the other hand, the Minister of Religious Affairs, Abdul Shakoor, while talking to the BBC, accused the female officer that she is lying. He put political pressure on me to get this position.

He says that some of his words have been deleted from the leaked audio and it is being presented out of context.

He further said that 'I definitely spoke to him but it was an audio of what was said in a private gathering after the interview.'

He demanded that the lady officer recorded our audio and released it, on which there should be an inquiry and action against her.

When he was asked if he had any objection to a woman occupying this position, his reply was, 'Who am I to object?' When the constitution of Pakistan gave the right to women that they can hold any position.

However, he maintained that the woman officer was not promoted because she did not come on merit.
